During my time at EIBTM 2014, I made it my mission to speak to as many industry professionals as possible to learn about some of the challenges they personally faced working in the industry, as well as the technology they believed could benefit them and their peers. One person who I was really keen to speak to was Mahan Parizi, the Lead Generation Manager at Bedouk. Fortunately, being the gentleman he is, Mahan was more than happy to take a few moments out of his day to sit down for a friendly chat and answer some of my questions. Here’s what he had to say…

Can you tell us something about Bedouk?

Bedouk Event Sourcing Solutions provides search solutions for professionals looking for hotels, congress centres, special venues, convention bureaus, destination management companies (DMCs), incentive agencies, professional congress organisers (PCOs), and other suppliers in the meetings industry.

Bedouk has four international websites dedicated to corporate, association and agency meeting planners in the UK, Germany Italy and Spain. The websites are published in their respective language with both local and international offers.

 

What are the benefits of using Bedouk?

Meeting planners and other industry professionals can benefit from using Bedouk in a number of different ways. Our team is made up over nine hundred and fifty professionals, who have over thirty years experience in the industry, making us the best company to offer these services. We currently provide our services to over sixty thousand meeting planners worldwide, providing them with thousands of venues and suppliers to choose from in over ninety different countries. Not only that but we also give them the option to receive five free quotes within forty eight hours.

 

What are the main challenges for those running professional events?

One of the main challenges is that event organisers have very strict budgets and therefore can be very demanding in terms of what they want to achieve with their lower budget.

Another challenge is that professionals have much higher expectations than in the past. They are looking to get the most for their money, whilst also improving their return on investment. There is also increased demand for quick turnaround times, with event organisers expecting just a short period of time between them making a request and the job being completed.

 

Which tools do you believe would be most beneficial for professionals working in the industry?

A mobile app that provided all of the event documentation attendees require and all of the slides available for presentations would be particularly beneficial. It would also be great if event organisers were able to measure how event attendees are reacting to the presentations given during an event, perhaps through a vote or polling system.

 

What do you think of the role of wearables in the market?

Wearables will come in the future but right now, the market is still not ready to adopt this technology. Having said this, for some specific events, using wearables could be an opportunity to impress delegates and generate a wow factor. It all depends on the type of the event and the audience it’s aimed at.
